Meet the cards

Texas Hold’em uses a standard deck of 52 cards. The four suits are spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs. Each suit has thirteen ranks, from 2 through ace.

Each player receives two private hole cards. Keep them private during a hand. Community cards are placed face up in the middle and can be used by every player still in the hand.

The word hand can mean your cards, your best five-card combination, or one complete round of play. Context tells you which.
